MiMAC-Rushes is a pioneer of moving image education within the schools and community sector and offers animation, news and drama in addition to teacher training within the Curriculum for Excellence. Our training work extends to socially excluded communities and includes special needs and the prison service, where media engagement and the skills inherent have many positive benefits.

As a film company run by filmmakers, we have a strong production track record that includes television and cinema awards. We are active in fiction drama, documentary, corporate and event capture.
A key element of the company is Rushes, where through monthly screenings and an annual film festival we mentor and promote the work of the independent film sector in Scotland.

Production

MiMAC-Rushes is a producer of Commercial, documentary, promotional and Educational DVD’s. We can supply the whole process from research and script development, through to filming, editing and final delivery onto DVD and Web Ready files. MiMAC-Rushes works with schools and a range of community organisations in delivering moving image educational projects covering animation, newsgathering and drama. We have a specialised Schools Project Developer and all our Tutors hold Enhanced Disclosures. We can also help you with funding, so do contact us even if your organisations has no funds for this type of activity.

The growth of digital based film and video, has led to a need to learn how to use computer based editing, effects and composition programs, with ever newer versions and an expanding range of programs to produce even more effects and functions. It has been never more necessary to access training and specialised support. MiMAC-Rushes offers 1 to 1 tuition in most moving image software packages, as well as a rolling program of workshops and group training

Due to demand these workshops are offered on a Saturday as part of a rolling programme. Workshops are run once we have five people booked on.

MiMAC-Rushes can offer training and support in most aspects of Film and Video making, from writing the initial script, producing, story boarding, directing, acting, makeup, editing, and burning an interactive a DVD.

Not only does MiMAC-Rushes cover most aspects of film and video making, we also cover animation, traditional Stop Frame and Cell animation, as well as the new media Flash and 3D animation, as well as compositing in programs such as After Effects.

HIRE

Equipment
MiMAC-Rushes operates an equipment hire service for digital video equipment and edit suites Any MiMAC-Rushes member can hire equipment.

The equipment available for hire includes a High Definition Canon XLHI and a Canon XH-A1. These are both excellent HDV pro camcorders suitable for television and corporate work.

MiMAC-Rushes can also provide the true workhorse of the Indy Film Makers toolkit – the Canon XL and the DV grand daddy of them all – the Sony VX1000. All cameras come with tripods

MiMAC-Rushes can also supply microphone kits, compatible with all our cameras. Plus lighting kits and various other ancillary equipment.

In 2008 MiMAC-Rushes is investing in new lightweight portable lighting, and portable bluescreen equipment, as well as additional lenses and steady-cam, jibs and tracks for hire.

Facilities
MiMAC-Rushes can also offer for hire edit suites running Final Cut Pro, Premiere and After Effects. The edit suites range from a full professional outfit, to affordable systems, These can be used on our premises in one of two dedicated rooms set up as editing suites. We also offer laptop hire.

We can also offer duplication from older formts such as U-Matic, (S)VHS and 8/16mm film.

Note: only the MiMAC-Rushes member named on the membership card can hire equipment by producing a valid MiMAC-Rushes membership card. MiMAC-Rushes membership is not transferable only the cardholder cans hire/collect/return equipment from MiMAC-Rushes.
